Words about Janine Zandberg

Obiturary for Janine Rachel Zandberg 24/6/58 – 7/11/2012

From Susie Gartner (Schramm)

Janine and I didn’t really know each other well at school. We got reacquainted about 18 years ago through mutual friends.  These friends own property in pristine bush land near 15 Mile Creek. They get together every summer and Janine was big part of this community.  I would go every other year or so and Janine would always greet me with a smile.  We would catch up on what we’d done since we last met.  She loved the outdoors.

I would also see her regularly at the Queenscliff Music Festival. Janine would be sitting with a group of friends enjoying the sights and sounds. She was an avid follower of cultural events and the Arts. She appreciated music, theatre and fine art and would often organize friends to join her at the latest festival, play or exhibition in town. She was fun loving and caring. This care extended to animals. Janine supported animal welfare organisations and was often seen walking her rescue greyhound dog down the beach.

I knew she had suffered from chronic pain yet I was shocked to hear of her passing. There were a lot of people at her funeral and beautiful words were spoken about her at a memorial gathering with friends a week later. She touched the hearts of many.  Rest in peace Janine.
